Tim Tebow is currently with the New England Patriots and he is listed as a quarterback on the roster as training camp approaches, but what would have happened if the Dallas Cowboys signed him instead to a deal?

According to the Dallas News, former Cowboys star Nate Newton spoke about the possibility of signing Tebow and the rumors that the team was interested in Vince Young, saying that the former Florida star could have been a help to the team. Newton said the fact that Tebow could play multiple positions and special teams could have been a positive for Jason Garrett and Tony Romo and since he is a winner from his time at college, that attitude could be contagious around the locker room.

Newton spoke about the idea that came up about Young signing with the Cowboys, saying that it didn't make sense since he lost some of his skills as a quarterback over the years. He mentioned how he has proven to not be a hard worker, unlike Tebow and that despite the fact that he won a national championship as well, he is as good as done. Newton said he would have taken Tebow over Young if he had the choice because he could bring more to the team.

Newton said that he will be a good fit with the New England Patriots even if he just plays quarterback, although he said he thinks he will play more than that this year. Newton also spoke about bringing in Vince Young and then trading him, saying that it is a complete fantasy. Newton said Young is too far removed from his glory days and that Kyle Orton is a better option than Young would be.

Newton also added that he thinks Tebow could end up out of the league if he doesn't learn to play more positions, as his time at quarterback might be okay for now with the Patriots, but if he doesn't open himself up, his options could be limited going forward. Tebow rushed for 102 yards last season with the Jets and he was signed by the Patriots last month, which came just before the Aaron Hernandez murder charges.
