Virat Kohli will be the man in the spotlight when Indian take on Sri Lanka in the Tri-Series match at Sabina Park, Jamaica Tuesday.

India's inspirational captain M.S. Dhoni was ruled out of the series after the wicketkeeper-batsman injured his hamstring while batting in the first innings of the previous one-dayer against the West Indies.

Kohli was named the captain for the rest of the series, with Ambati Rayudu flown into the West Indies as Dhoni's replacement.

"Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ruled out of the ongoing tri-series in the West Indies, due to a hamstring injury," the BCCI said in a release.

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked Ambati Rayudu as his replacement in the squad. Rayudu will join the team at the earliest.

"Virat Kohli will lead India in the remainder of the tri-series."

India lost their first match against the Windies and will be keen to get back to winning ways when they take on Sri Lanka, who will also be desperate for a win after their loss in the opening match of the tri-series.

Kohli had to captain India against the West Indies in the second innings with Dhoni unable to take the field and the stylish batsman will be put under pressure with at least three matches remaining in the rest of the series.

"I have captained in the IPL but that's a Twenty20 game," Kohli said after the loss to West Indies on Sunday. "This was totally unexpected. It was more thinking on the feet.

"It was a good experience for me. I had to keep attacking fields throughout the game because we needed wickets.

"There were times when you are under pressure and you miss him (Dhoni) because he remains calm under pressure."

India are now likely to bring in opener Murali Vijay to the lineup, but it remains to be seen whether Duncan Fletcher and co. will be ready to tamper with the opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, which has proved to be so successful.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will look to find that winning formula after being thumped in the first match by West Indies.

Their batsmen need to fire at the top and Mahela Jayawardene, who opened the innings on Friday, will again be expected to give his side a sound start, but will need some support.
