With Serena Williams, the overwhelming favorite and defending champion, knocked out of Wimbledon, the draw just opened up for quite a few of the women's tennis players out there and every single one of the remaining eight will be dreaming of winning the title come Saturday.

Sabine Lisicki was overwhelmed after she beat Williams in a brilliant three-setter in the fourth round on Monday.

The German had to play her best and she did, with her big booming serves causing Williams all kinds of problems.

"I am still shaking, I am so happy," Lisicki said. "It is an amazing feeling to win this match. This is such a special place for me and the crowd were brilliant to me. I gave it everything I had, I fought for every single point to try to win it somehow.

"Serena played a fantastic match. She's such a tough opponent. It's just amazing feeling to win this match."

Lisicki now faces Kaia Kanepi in the quarterfinals after the unseeded Estonian defeated home hope Laura Robson in the fourth round.

The other quarterfinal matches will see Agnieszka Radwanska, the highest seed remaining in the tournament at 4, take on Li Na of China, while former champion Petra Kvitova will look to seal a semifinal place with a win against Belgian Kirsten Flipkens.

The final quarterfinal is an intriguing one between young American Sloane Stephens, who seems to keep her best tennis for the Grand Slams, and No. 15 seed Marion Bartoli of France.

"Everyone loves this tournament," Stephens said. "It's a dream to be here. I mean, I'm really excited just to be in the quarters here.

"It's my first time making the final eight. I'm really excited. I think somebody asked me the other day my first experience watching Wimbledon.

"It was when I watched Venus (Williams) play (Lindsay) Davenport. They had, like, that epic final (in 2005) ... I was not good at tennis then, obviously. I was a nonfactor. So it's crazy just thinking that I went from watching that to actually here in the quarters.

"It's definitely crazy, but it's good."
