The Seattle Seahawks have invested a lot in wide receiver Percy Harvin. After acquiring the wide receiver in the offseason, Seattle's wide receiving core instantly becomes on the top units in the league. Along with Harvin, Sdney Rice, Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin round out the top spots on the roster and will provide plenty of weapons for quarterback Russell Wilson. After spending a brief amount of time together, Harvin truly admires the group and is looking forward to 2013.
In four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Harvin proved to a valuable deep threat. He caught 280 passes for 3,302 yards in 54 games, along with recording 20 touchdowns. He also played a role on kick returns, averaging 27.9 yards on 114 returns. Harvin is now an extra set of hands for Wilson and happy to be included in one of the best receiving corps in franchise history.
"Having played with Sidney, he's going to make that spectacular catch. He's known for making that big sideline catch and still getting two feet down. Or on that deep post, jumping over two guys to get the ball. That's what he's known for here, and definitely when he was in Minnesota," Harvin said.
The Seahawks know they are getting a very talented wide receiver, they are just hoping to also be getting one that is leaving immaturity at the door. Harvin had some well-publicized issues while in Minnesota, including fights with coaches and teammates. He is aware the Seahwaks are taking a risk on him.
"We knew it was a long, long shot. My agent, he said it could get ugly, and it did at times. But when I got that call (from Seattle), I just said it was a plus-plus for me, and I was going to make the best of it. We just went in here hoping for the best, and we got the best situation, I felt. I'm loving it so far in this place," Harvin said.
Harvin is now working for form healthy relationships with his coaches and teammates. He first met Pete Carroll back in 2005 on a college recruiting trip and is happy to be back with the coach in the NFL. Carroll says the team is keeping a close eye on Harvin. They want to the receiver is known for big-play abilities and not the one that had issues off the field.
