Authorities plan to arrest New England Patriots football player Aaron Hernandez on suspicion of interfering with a homicide investigation, a police official said on Friday. An arrest warrant for obstruction of justice has been issued for Hernandez, 23, a tight end and rising star in the National Football League, said the police officer, who requested anonymity."

The New England Patriots are dealing with a tough and developing situation with tight end Aaron Hernandez, as the star is wrapped up in a murder case and could be facing an arrest after reports said police had issued a warrant for his involvement in the investigation.

According to reports from media outlets, including ESPN and local stations in Boston, a warrant has been issued for the 23-year-old tight end for obstruction of justice but the authorities, as Hernandez reportedly destroyed evidence related to the case. Reports say the tight end destroyed his security system at home as well as his cell phone willingly and they also have questions about why he had a cleaning crew at his home on Monday. ABC reported that Hernandez destroyed video evidence willingly and the murder of the victim Odin Lloyd is being looked at as a suicide.

The Patriots have major questions at the position heading into next season now, as Rob Gronkowski is coming back from surgery and now Hernandez is embroiled in this investigation and his future is up in the air. Lloyd is connected to Hernandez as he was reportedly dating the sister of the mother of his child and now the 27-year-old is dead, as police said he was shot multiple times and it was execution style. What could make trouble for Hernandez is that he reportedly was seen with Lloyd and two other associates on video hours before he was killed.

The body was found in North Attleborough outside Boston and was in an industrial park a mile from the tight end's home. Hernandez is one of the biggest parts of the offense for the Patriots and his lawyer Michael Fee has met with him multiple times. Hernandez is one of many NFL players involved in big cases over the past few years, including Michael Vick, Ray Lewis as well as Rae Carruth years ago.

Hernandez's past is also being scrutinized and he is involved in a case in Florida where a man is accusing the tight end of shooting him with an unlicensed gun. He also has been connected to two other cases at Rhode Island nightclubs. One company has ditched Hernandez as a spokesman and his past has come under fire, as reports said he was prone to anger and also once lashed out at wide receiver Wes Welker. The team signed Hernandez to a big extension and afterwards he donated $50,000 dollars to owner Robert Kraft's foundation and the owner praised the TE as a good man. Now all that has come into question.

From Reuters: The Boston Globe, quoting an unnamed NFL scout, said one team's pre-draft file on Hernandez indicated he might be prone to flashes of temper.

"Self-esteem is quite low; not well-adjusted emotionally, not happy, moods unpredictable, not stable, doesn't take much to set him off, but not an especially jumpy guy," The Globe reported, quoting an excerpt from the scouting report.
