Chelsea Transfer News: Kurt Zouma on Blues' Radar; Ramires, De Bruyne Reveal Encouraging Phone Calls From Jose Mourinho

Chelsea are considering making a £10 million ($15.3 million) for St. Etienne defender Kurt Zouma, while Ramires and Kevin De Bruyne have been assured of their futures with the club after receiving encouraging phone calls from Jose Mourinho.

The Blues are expected to be pretty busy in the transfer market again this summer, and have already brought in forward Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen.

Mourinho is thought to be keen on a central defender with Porto's Eliaquim Mangala heavily linked.

However, with Porto demanding a high transfer fee for the French international, Mourinho is ready to turn his attentions towards highly-rated youngster Zouma.

The 18-year-old, who is 6ft 2in tall, already has quite a physical presence about him, leading to comparisons to former Chelsea and France great Marcel Desailly, and is considered to be one of France's brightest prospects.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has wasted little time in building a relationship with his Chelsea players, telling Ramires he tried to bring the midfielder both to Inter Milan and Real Madrid during the Portuguese's stint with the clubs.

"My phone rang the other day and it was a surprise to find it was Mourinho calling me," the Brazilian midfielder said.

"We talked a lot and he said nice things. He told me that he had asked both Inter Milan and Real Madrid to sign me when he was coaching those teams and he added that he's happy I am now in the Chelsea squad.

"That made me very happy and now I am really eager to start working with Mourinho.

"I told him that he can count on me and that I'll do all I can to help him be a winner during his second spell at the club.

"I was already keen to work with him and now I am even more motivated after finding out that he wants to work with me. I am feeling we will have a great season."

Ramires was a surprise exclusion from the Brazil squad for the Confederations Cup, and even though he was never really linked with a move away, the call from Mourinho would have definitely settled any nerves.

Meanwhile, Mourinho also gave a call to Kevin De Bruyne, who is now set for a stay with the Blues next season, after spending the last 18 months out on loan.

"Mr Mourinho gave a phone call to Kevin to explain a little bit the situation for next season," De Bruyne's agent Patrick De Coster said.

"Kevin played for Belgium against Serbia after that and received another call from the coach congratulating him on his performance.

"It was a dream come true for Kevin when he signed for Chelsea but it was important for him to be playing. He has improved as a result of the last 18 months on loan at Genk and Werder Bremen.

"Now it's up to him to prove himself at Chelsea but he didn't receive any guarantees from Mr Mourinho about game time next season. That is normal at a team like Chelsea."
