NBA News And Rumors: Clippers Move On From Doc Rivers And Focus On Brian Shaw, Rivers May Leave The Celtics For The Broadcast Booth

The biggest basketball rumor over the past few days has finally seemed to die down as talks of a deal between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers has already begun to crumble away.

Rumors suggested of a trade that would send Doc Rivers, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Clippers for a handful of assets, but now the Clippers appear more ready to move on from the possibility of landing Rivers and began to focus more on their attempts to hire either Brian Shaw or Lionel Hollins.

Although it doesn't seem like Rivers will ever coach the Clippers that still doesn't mean he'll return to the Celtics bench next season.

According to CSNNE.com, Rivers has not entirely ruled out taking some time off to continue his broadcasting career and return to coaching afterwards.

"You guys (media) have been around Doc long enough to know that's always been something he's talked about," the source said. "So it shouldn't come as a surprise. And frankly, now is probably as good a time as any for him to go that route."

Rivers has been among the most respected and well-liked coaches in the NBA for many years now. On more than one occasion he stated that he would consider taking a sabbatical from coaching in order to recharge as well as spend more time with his family.

There's no telling what the future has for Rivers but you can count on him making the best move for himself.
