Arsenal Transfer News: Julio Cesar Agrees Two-Year Deal; Juventus Insist No Move Made Yet for Jovetic

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar has reportedly agreed a two-year deal with Arsenal with the Brazilian set to move to the English Premier League club after being relegated with QPR this season.

Cesar recently admitted he is set to leave the club in the summer, with QPR desperate to get the £70,000 a week wages the experienced player earns off their books.

Harry Redknapp had also admitted, once QPR's relegation was confirmed, that Cesar was likely to leave, with the keeper determined to be a part of the Brazil squad for the 2014 World Cup set to be held in his home country.

Cesar said earlier this week he had held talks with clubs in England and Italy but had not made a decision yet.

"I'm not sure what my future holds yet, it's too early to talk about that," he said. "Some Italian clubs are interested, but I love London -- it's a beautiful city.

"I want to remain in England because the football has impressed me a lot.

"I am in negotiations with other clubs in England and from other countries but there's still not been anything definitive."

Arsenal are looking to bring in an experienced goalkeeper to give talented yet error-prone Wojciech Szczesny some competition, and have been linked with Cesar quite a few times in the past.

The Gunners have apparently moved quickly to bring in Cesar for next season, with the Brazilian signing a two-year deal, according to Tuttomercato.

If the report turns out to be true, then it will be seen as a really good and astute signing by Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger now able to concentrate on other areas, particularly bringing in a goalscoring striker.

One of those forwards heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer is Stevan Jovetic of Fiorentina.

A couple of weeks ago, Arsenal looked like they were extremely close to signing the Montenegro international, only for Juventus to reportedly make a bid to hijack the move.

However, the Italian champions said they are looking at summer targets, but have not made a move for Jovetic as yet.

"I don't say it's ready," Juventus director general Guiseppe Marotta told Sky Sport Italia. "That does not mean we are not active, but the situation has yet to develop. Some clubs should just settle down.

"For Jovetic, we have not made a move, even if he is a very good young player.

"We have carried out surveys for several different players, but I do not think we'll make a decision in the short term.

"We want to put together the most complete team we can count upon for preseason."

Fiorentina are reportedly demanding €30 million (£25 million, $38 million), which Arsenal are refusing to match, with Wenger hoping to bring the price down to the £20 million ($30 million) mark.
