Detroit Lions Rumors: Reggie Bush Compares Offense To New Orleans Saints As Team Could Add Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Lloyd or Tim Tebow To The Mix?

The Detroit Lions had a very disappointing season after making the playoffs in 2011 as one of the surprise teams in the NFL and now after a busy offseason the team is ready to make the next step again with Reggie Bush in the fold at running back.

According to Pro Football Talk, Bush compared his new team and their offense and his role to his time with the Saints, when New Orleans had one of the highest scoring and explosive offenses in the league with Drew Brees. The Lions have dealt with injuries at the running back position over the past few years and after Bush proved that he could be an every down back in Miami, he now gives the team some stability after staying healthy last season.

Bush has always been good out of the backfield and he once led the Saints in receptions and he likely will do more of the same with Matthew Stafford and the Lions this season. He said that picking the Lions had to do with the similarity to the Saints and after five years in that system he understands it and how successful it can be for players like himself. Bush proved to be a capable back in Miami and rushed for over 1,000 yards in one of his seasons and gained nearly as much as he did in two years that he did with the Saints for five.

With Bush and Calvin Johnson on offense, the team could also add some more weapons, including possibly Brandon Lloyd to make up for the loss of Titus Young, as well as Ahmad Bradshaw, who could be a good backup option since he is still a free agent. Of course it's crazy, but Tebow could even be a fit there as he could possibly finally allow himself to switch positions and even if he didn't, Matthew Stafford is the entrenched starter and that won't change no matter what.

Last season the Lions went 4-12 and were one of the most inconsistent teams in the league, as they ranked second in passing yards with over 300 and were 23rd in rushing yards with just over 100 per game. The team was in the middle of the pack defensively and needs to improve for next year.

"As far as from an offensive perspective it's a lot like what we did in New Orleans," Bush said. "It's a lot of spread-open passing. Obviously we can attack downfield, and with the running game, a lot of screens, draws and stuff like that. Basically what I did in New Orleans, so running this offensive system has been pretty easy for me."
