It has been said many times before and only in a few instances has it actually come true. A football player hanging out in the offseason, having all the confidence in the world, makes the bold prediction of a Super Bowl win in order to get fans excited. Only a few times has this ever worked out in favor of the player making the prediction. Think back to the time Matt Hasselback claimed, "We want the ball and we're gonna score." How did that work out for him? Well, Detroit Lions' Nick Fairley is making his own prediction. He believes the Lions will go on to win Super Bowl 2014.

The Detroit Lions are the only team to not win a Super Bowl since the era began. Fairley believes this is the season that all changes. Speaking to a local newspaper, Fairley said he is going into the upcoming season with much higher expectations than in seasons past.

"I expect big things. I am going to say we are going to the Super Bowl because I am competitive and that is what I want for the team and it is one of the goals. I am sure we are going to take it game by game and day by day," Fairley said.

Lions' fans certainly hope he is right. The team went 4-12 last season that was marked as a large disappointment. They were hampered with off-the-field issues from multiple players and failed to live up to the expectations place upon them. Fairley believes the players picked up in the draft will certainly help the team and once some chemistry is found, things will go a lot better.

As the Lions attempt to pick up from a season some would rather forget, one player is trying to makes amends for offseason actions. Ronnell Lewis who was arrested in April for disturbing the peace and public intoxication, took time to apologize to the team and owners. He said he has learned from his mistakes and believes it is time for him to pick and become a new leader.

Lewis will certainly have some competition this season. The Lions drafted Ziigy Ansah and Devin Taylor at his position. If Lewis has any intention of playing this year, he will have to beat those two players.
