Kings XI Punjab will be desperate for a win when they host the dangerous Royal Challengers Bangalore in Mohali in their IPL 2013 game Monday.
Kings XI have seen a decent start to the tournament undone by three straight losses, and with RCB looking to move one step closer to sealing a playoff spot, it will be far from easy for the home side.
RCB are currently in second position in the points table with seven wins from 11 games, and will be in buoyant mood having picked up their first away win of the season against Pune Warriors Thursday.
"It is always good to get any win," RCB all-rounder Moises Henriques said after defeating Pune Warriors. "I think it is our third straight game on the road now on this little trip so it was nice to get that win under the belt."
That win was mainly made possible by some stunning hitting in the last overs by AB De Villiers. "It was pretty special," Henriques said of De Villiers' unbeaten 23-ball 50.
"We have a bowlers meeting before the game where we talk about the opposition batsmen and where to bowl to them and I was actually thinking, 'where the hell would you bowl to AB de Villiers' because he hits the ball everywhere or anywhere, to all parts of the field so I was feeling for the bowler there because I wasn't sure what I would do myself."
Apart from the threat posed by the likes of De Villiers, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, Kings XI really need a win against RCB to stay in the hunt for a playoff place, as they currently lie in sixth, with just four wins in ten matches.
One positive to take from the loss to CSK in their last match was the form shown by Shaun Marsh, who struck an outstanding 51-ball 73. "It was nice to get a few runs and get the confidence back," Marsh told IPL's official website after the game. "It's just good to be playing with the boys again, running around and playing cricket, which I love doing. Hopefully there are no more injuries."
