After suffering a forgettable defeat to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening game of IPL 2013, Pune Warriors India will be determined to set things right when they host the Kings XI Punjab.
PWI were extremely poor in their first match, failing to reach a very makeable total of 128 against the Surnisers.
Some good bowling from Pune was completely undone by their batsmen's abject performance, and Alan Donaldo and co. will be desperate to make sure all departments of the game come firing against Kings XI, who play their first game of the new season.
Punkab captain Adam Gilchrist believes he has the team to go all the way this year.
"It's a new challenge now," he told reporters. "We have got different set of players. In the last two seasons, we have been in running for semifinals (berth) till (our) last game. We have strengthened the squad from last year.
Gilchrist insisted Kings XI had a strong lineup in both bowling and batting.
"There were plenty of options in the batting department including young Mandeep Singh, Paul Valthaty, Luke Pomersbach while presence of Parvinder Awana, Praveen Kumar, Manpreet Gony and Piyush Chawla strengthens the side's bowling."
PWI captain Angelo Mathews was put under pressure in his first game in charge, and the Sri Lankan all-rounder will hope for a more easier outing against Kings XI Sunday evening.
"As a player you've got to adapt to the challenges that come your way," he said. "As a professional cricketer, you will face a lot of challenges in a different way throughout your cricketing career. You need to try and adapt to those challenges as quickly as possible.
"You've got to stay calm as far as possible. You need to gel with the boys because they are the ones who will make you a good leader. You have to listen to the boys because it is important to get all things on board. And then you take the positive stuff out of what they have said."
