NFL Free Agency Rumors: Denver Broncos Pursue Ahmad Bradshaw, Le'Veon Bell Option in Draft

The Denver Broncos are continuing to piece together their offense around starting quarterback, Peyton Manning. After acquiring receiver Wes Welker, they still have questions to answer in the run game. As uncertainty surrounds the health of Knowshon Moreno and Willis McGahee, the Broncos are now in contact with free agent Ahmad Bradshaw about possibly joining the team.

There has not been a lot of activity surrounding Bradshaw since free agency began. After being released from the New York Giants not too many teams have called his number. Bradshaw is being considered a gamble as he is coming of a foot injury. But he has proved he is still a talented running back and would be productive on any team in need of a back. Last season, Bradshaw rushed for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns while playing in 14 games. He is also known for his pass protecting abilities making him a versatile option. When he is healthy, he is dominant. The issue is whether or not he can play at full speed again.

Bradshaw has garnered attention from the Pittsburgh Steelers as well. The team brought him in for a physical but questioned his overall health and did not sign him to a contract. The Broncos could sign him to a low risk deal just to see how he would work within the team.

The Broncos made a pull for running back Shonn Greene but ultimately lost out on him. Moreno will be returning this season after having a stem-cell treatment on his knee following the 210 season. McGaHee suffered a ligament injury and his health status is known. The Broncos need to find a premier rusher to make up for the possible absence from these two running backs.

If the Broncos decide not to sign Bradshaw, they have options in the upcoming NFL draft. Denver drafts No. 28 overall and could pick up a running back right away. Many think they will look towards drafting a defensive player in the first round, but there are still decent backs in available in later rounds. The team has shown interest in former Michigan State running back, Le'veon Bell. Bell led the Big Ten in rushing all of last season, but is not considered a first round option. Many think he is overrated after running in the 4.5s during his 40-yard dash. If the Broncos want a middle round draft back, he is their best option.
