Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Rumors: Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, EJ Manuel and Ryan Nassib Meet Team After Matt Flynn Oakland Raiders Trade

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the worst teams in the NFL last season, but with the number two selection in the draft they have a number of options and find themselves in a good spot, as they could select one of the many quarterback prospects, including someone like Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, EJ Manuel or Ryan Nassib.

According to NFL.com, the team is meeting with all of the top quarterbacks leading up to the draft at the end of April, including Matt Barkley, who came in on Tuesday. The team met privately with Florida State's EJ Manuel and North Carolina State's Mike Glennon and on Friday the team will meet with Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib, who played under new Bills coach Doug Marrone last season.

New Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley is doing his due diligence on the quarterbacks despite the team having Blaine Gabbert and there is a good chance the team will select one with the number two pick. The Kansas City Chiefs are widely expected to select a lineman in Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher, leaving the Jaguars to make their pick from the crop of quarterbacks.

The team had some worries if they passed on one of the top names, but now that both the Oakland Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals have made trades for quarterbacks in Matt Flynn and Carson Palmer, they can possibly snag one in the second round. The team was initially interested in a Matt Flynn trade, but the Raiders quickly jumped to the front of the pack and the Jags stepped away.

There are a number of other players available at the top of the draft that could be excellent picks for the Jaguars, including Dee Milliner, Jarvis Jones, Shariff Floyd, Dion Jordan and Eric Fisher. The team has been rumored to be most interested in Smith and Manuel, but there is a chance it could be Barkley, who looked excellent during his pro day workout and has gotten good reviews from teams in private meetings, including with the Bills.

"It was good for me to visit with them," Bradley said via the Florida Times-Union. "It's great. You have the physical side and you have the mental side. I was really intrigued mentally by how these guys compete. I believe there are different levels of guys competing mindset wise. It really intrigues me to have a chance to sit down with these quarterbacks and go through that. I think it was really good to find some things out."

The Jaguars ranked 21st in passing yards per game last season and went just 2-14.
