The Kansas City Chiefs have their pick of any player in the entire draft. The top pick and can be the best thing for a team or it can be thought of as the worst. The Chiefs have to decide whether to use it possibly trade it in order to have more options in later rounds of the draft. While Andy Reid has said he is keep all options open regarding the No. 1 overall pick, the team is reportedly interested in quarterback Geno Smith.

Smith is considered the top quarterback option in this year's draft class, but not the top overall player. He wowed scouts at the NFL combine and followed that up with an impressive Pro Day performance. He has done everything he can to solidify himself as a top 10 draft pick.

Multiple teams are interested in drafting a quarterback with their first pick, however it was not thought that Kansas City was one of them. The Chiefs have said Smith has fascinated them.Kansas City traded a second round pick and a conditional third round pick that could become a second in next year's draft in order to get quarterback Alex Smith. A former 49er, Smith has spent his career alternating between a backup and a starter.

The Chiefs gave away a lot in order to get the quarterback, which makes their interest in Smith seem odd. There is no doubt that he is talented, but most teams want him to be a potential starter. Kansas City already has their starting quarterback. They could also use that top pick to get an offensive lineman, a need the team is looking to address.

There are plenty of teams looking to get that top pick in order to draft Smith so the Chiefs could find themselves with a lot of offers. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles have all met with the quarterback and put him through private workouts. One of those teams will make an offer to Kansas City. The Jaguars look to be giving Smith a very serious look. If the Chiefs deicde to draft him, that could leave the team to try and trade for Seattle backup Matt Flynn or possibly try and get Tim Tebow from the Jets.

The Chiefs could just be setting a smoke screen with their interest for Smith. It would drive his asking price up. The team could get a better trade deal if other teams believe they are truly interested in drafting him. Smith threw for 98 touchdowns and only 21 interceptions in his four-year career at West Virginia.
