NFL Draft Rumors: Buffalo Bills Pursue Geno Smith in Private Workout, Team Trading Up for Quarterback?

Geno Smith continues to be the most sought after player in the upcoming NFL draft. After many experts have claimed this is a weak year for quarterbacks in the draft, Smith is the player gaining the most attention. Both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles have paid a visit to the former West Virginia quarterback and gave him a private workout. Now the Buffalo Bills can be added to that list as they are reportedly interested in getting Smith as well.

The Bills will visit Smith on Friday and run him through a full workout. The Bills were present during Smith's Pro Day and reportedly already had this private work out session planned in advance. Smith is considered the best quarterback in this year's draft class and has continued to prove that true with his NFL Combine workouts and Pro Day. his mobility and accuracy while throwing a deep ball make him very attractive to teams.

The Buffalo Bills are the team that is most in need of quarterback during this year's draft. It is almost imperative that they draft a quarterback to get something going in that franchise. After releasing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick earlier in free agency, Tarvaris Jackson currently sits on top of their depth chart. Jackson spent five years with the Minnesota Vikings before playing a year with Seattle as their starting quarterback. In his career, he has thrown for 7,075 yards, 38 touchdowns and 35 interceptions. Those are not the kind of numbers the Bills wants for their starting quarterback.

The Bills will draft No. 8 overall in this year's draft. This makes things complicated if they want Smith. The Jaguars draft No. 2 overall and are also reportedly interested in Smith. The Kansas City Chiefs have the top pick and Andy Reid has expressed interest in making a trade to someone in an effort to get more draft picks in later rounds. The Bills will have to try and put up a good offer to the Chiefs if they want to draft first and beat Jacksonville to Smith. There are plenty of quarterbacks in this year's draft, so if the Bills are unable to get Smith, they still have options open.
