NFL Draft Rumors: Kansas City Chiefs Trading Top Draft Pick? Jacksonville Jaguars Interested in Geno Smith No.1 Overall

Andy Reid is considering all options. After the Kansas Chiefs acquired quarterback Alex Smith, the team no longer needed to grab a quarterback with their No.1 pick in this year's NFL draft. Now, they have a little more flexibility with their draft plan. They could use it or trade it for more picks later on. While speaking to reporters at the NFL annual meeting, Reid said interest is high from other teams in getting the No. 1 pick for the 2013 draft.

Traditionally, Reid has never enjoyed having such a high draft pick. When he was head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, he always considered making a trade in order to have more options in later rounds.

"We're going to keep all the options open. I said this when we had a the second pick with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999 and I was sitting at this meeting and Mike Ditka (New Orleans Saints head coach) offered to me his whole draft. We'll keep it wide open," Reid said.

The Chiefs gave up a second round pick in order to get Smith. The team could be interested in getting that back in place for the first pick. Any team looking to trade for the top pick is usually gunning to grab a quarterback before anyone else is able to make an offer on him. While Geno Smith might not be considered a top 10 pick compared to other position players, numerous teams are interested in grabbing him early.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are expressed how impressed they were with Smith after seeing him at the combine and workout at his Pro Day. They are looking to bring in another quarterback to create competition at the position. They have the No.2 pick, but the Eagles are picking at No. 4 and are also interested in Smith. If the Chiefs decide to put their pick up for sale, those two teams would likely battle it out in order to get Smith.

A draft pick trade could happen seconds before the team is set to draft or it could happen days before the draft begins. There are no true deadlines with these types of trades so the Chiefs have time to decide what plan of action they decide to take. Kansas City has said they are done making moves in free agency, so now they will set their focus on the draft and that very important top pick.
