Arsenal Injury News: Confusion Reigns over the Return of Jack Wilshere as Conflicting Reports Emerge

Arsenal have denied reports that Jack Wilshere has suffered a setback to the ankle problem which ruled him out for three weeks, including the Bayern Munich Champions League game and the England World Cup qualifiers.

Fans of the club were left thinking the worst, when Goal.com published a report which suggested Wilshere could be out for a further six weeks, after failing to recover from a problem with his right ankle, the ankle that kept him out for 16 months.

The report also suggested Arsenal would not risk their star player, which would basically rule him out for the rest of the season.

Arsene Wenger revealed Wilshere had a problem with his left ankle, which had become inflamed and was having some rest while undergoing treatment in Dubai. The manager also admitted there was a small concern with the right leg as well, but did not think it was too much of a problem.

"Maybe I overplayed him, but only in the last two games," Wenger said before the Bayern game last week. "It's difficult to rest him because he's a winner and when I ask how he feels, he says 'perfect.'

"We do a regular scan and it showed bone bruising on the heel of his right foot.

"He had some inflammation where he had the surgery and he has been compensating to protect his left ankle. Every month he has scans on both ankles, but he feels no pain.

"The last time we let him carry on and it turned into a stress fracture, which is why the specialist said we cannot take this gamble."

And now, the Daily Mail claims Wilshere's return from the injury is on course and there are not too much concerns over his long-term fitness.

"Nothing has changed in Jack's recovery, there's no setback or further damage to his ankle and no concern about any long-term problems,' said a club spokesperson.

'Jack was told to rest and we are still on course for him to resume training and be available for selection for the home game against Reading.

If indeed the report on Goal.com ends up being true, then it would be a cruel blow to both Arsenal and Wilshere, not just in terms of the results for the rest of the season, but in terms of the future as well, but hopefully the talented midfielder will have no problems and will return back to his best as he did earlier this season.
