NBA News And Rumors: Kevin Garnett Out With Leg Injury, Miami Heat Streak Continues Over The Celtics With His Absence?

Mar 18, 2013 10:08 AM EDT

The Miami Heat have equaled the second longest winning streak in NBA history with 22 consecutive wins, and will face their toughest test Monday night against the Boston Celtics.

Though Miami will have its full cast of stars, the Celtics will be fairly shorthanded with the absence of Rajon Rondo, who's out for the season with an ACL tear, and now Kevin Garnett.

The Celtics center missed last night's 105-88 win at the Garden against the Charlotte Bobcats due to what trainer Ed Lacerte diagnosed as a strained adductor in his lower left leg. Coach Doc Rivers says he has no idea if the injury will keep Garnett out of the game with Miami.

I honestly don't know," Rivers said. "I haven't looked that far ahead. He's not here. He may come, but I told him he didn't have to."

Garnett participated in team practice but Rivers wasn't happy with his movement.

"He wasn't moving well in practice (Friday) or (at yesterday's shootaround)," he said. "He's not feeling great. I don't think it will be longer term. . . . If he's healthy he'll play (against Miami). If not, he won't."
