After that unbelievable third day for India where Shikhar Dhawan played an absolutely blistering innings, the hosts will look to push on and post a big lead against Australia in the fourth day of the third Test at Mohali.

Dhawan is not out on 185 on his debut after breaking several records, with Murali Vijay giving him good company on 83 as India make hay on 283 for no loss after Australia were all out for 408.

"I wasn't really playing in a hurry," said Dhawan, who scored his 185 unbeaten in just 168 balls. "The fours were coming on their own after the ball hit the bat. But I guess I was in good flow today.

"I felt my shot selection was good and I played according to how I'd assessed the wicket. I didn't feel that I rushed things. There was no strategy, I was hitting the ball well, I was middling the ball very nicely and the runs came on their own. My only focus was that I'd play the ball on merit.

The other standout performer of the day was Mitchell Starc, with the fast bowler's 99 understandably overshadowed by Dhawan's blitzkrieg.

"I was just enjoying it up until I got out," fast bowler Starc said. "At the start of the day I was just hanging around for hopefully Steve Smith to get a ton. Unfortunately he didn't get there and that was just a lot of fun to play the way I liked to (after Smith's dismissal) and play my shots.

"To fall one short is disappointing and hopefully I can get another chance one day. I felt a bit nervous and it probably felt a bit harder ... when you get to 99. It's something I can learn from and I'm still happy I got that far."
