No. 5 ranked NC State comes into the quarterfinals after defeating Virginia Tech 80-63 in the first round of the ACC tournament. They got a double-double from Richard Howell after he scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in their game against Tech. Including Howell, they had four players in double figures in points. Lorenzo Brown was the only starter who wasn't in double-digits, but he finished the game with 12 assists.
Virginia will be waiting to see what their opponents bring to the table. Both schools are ranked next to each other, but NC State is a complete force on paper. They are ranked 12th in scoring averaging 78 points per game as they are making .495 percent of their field goals. Virginia comes nowhere close to those numbers averaging 64.3 points per game and shooting at a percentage of .459.
As previously mentioned, these stats look overwhelming on paper because the last time these two teams met, Virginia defeated NC State 58-55 in their only game this season.
