NFL Week 9 Preview: Do the Washington Redskins Have a Chance Against the New England Patriots This Weekend?

The Redskins are too banged up to beat the Patriots, and that is a fact. With Bashaud Breeland, DeAngelo Hall, Chris Culliver all questionable for Sunday's tilt with the Pats, the Skins should be pretty low on confidence that they could potentially stop Brady from throwing all over the field.

On offense DeSean Jackson looks to make his return to the field against a defense that has given up the 6th most fantasy points to wide receivers but whom also boast Devin McCourty and other solid play makers. The Redskins will most likely be without Ryan Kerrigan and Keenan Robinson so it should be tough for them to get pressure as well as cover the Patriots running backs in the passing game.

The Redskins will face the Saints in week 10 and that is arguably a more important game as they compete for the NFC East crown. In a division that is wide open with every team either at .500 or below, everyone has a chance but a deflating loss, no pun intended, against the Patriots would have more of a negative effect on their season then if they just took the loss.

The Redskins will like want to play as hard as they can for every snap but theyre playing against a team that is currently unbeaten and perennial Super Bowl favorites. The words Redskins and Super Bowl have not even been used in the same sentence in most of their younger fans lifetimes.

One must think also about the recent rash of injuries that hit the NFL in recent weeks so if the Skins suffered another catastrophic injury this season they might as well pack it in for the year. What makes them dangerous this week is that they have nothing to lose against a team that is clearly superior. If anything the Redskins could use this as a barometer to see exactly how far they have come to competing against a Super Bowl caliber team.
