Chicago Bears Rumors: Matt Forte Trade Option After Jeremy Langford Draft Pick? Jay Cutler Starts With Kevin White

The Chicago Bears could consider a Matt Forte trade this season if the running back and the team do not agree on a contract extension and this comes as Jeremy Langford and Ka'Deem Carey are on the roster behind Forte for John Fox, while Jay Cutler appears ready to start for the team along with rookie Kevin White after he was mentioned in trade rumors this offseason.

The Bears have had a tough go since the end of 2014, as the team has added a new head coach and general manager, dealt with questions about the starting QB and they have also signed and released Ray McDonald. The team now is heading into minicamp looking to bounce back in 2015, as they won just five games last year under Marc Trestman. According to the Chicago Tribune, Matt Forte showed up for the start of Bears OTAs and this comes after he was mentioned in trade rumors this offseason.

According to Michael C. Wright at ESPN Chicago, Forte is coming into the final year of his contract and he is looking for an extension. The Bears are not currently shopping Forte and Forte said he is not planning on holding out in camp, but so far Wright reports that there have been no major talks about a new deal. Adding to things is the fact that the Bears added a running back in Langford and while a deal with Forte may not happen now, he could be a target come the trade deadline since he will be a free agent next year if things stay the same.

The Bears have Cutler set to be the starter in training camp, as John Fox said that he will be at the top of the depth chart, although he may have to prove he deserves to stay there. Jimmy Clausen came in and started one game for Cutler last season after Trestman benched Cutler, but that lasted only one week. Cutler did not have a great year overall when looking at the Bears offense, as the team was very inconsistent, but his stats were some of the best of his career and that gives Fox a lot to work with.

The Bears brought in Adam Gase to work for Fox after he did that in Denver and while Cutler is no Peyton Manning, Gase should be able to get the most out of him for the team this year. According to the Chicago Tribune, Gase said that he is "comfortable" with Cutler and that he expects the team to be "better" on offense than last season. Cutler has some new weapons and he now has the chance to get things going in a new offense. Last season Cutler had a career best 66 percent completion rate and 28 touchdowns, but he also had 18 interceptions and six fumbles lost.

Kevin White comes in as a rookie and he is expected to be a starter alongside Alshon Jeffery and he could be an explosive deep threat for the team. Carey and Langford are behind Forte on the depth chart and while Forte still is the starter, Langford could eat into his carries and touches. Forte was one of the most worked backs in football last season and he is set to be 30 by the end of the season and that is when most RBs start to break down.
