Washington Redskins running back Lache Seastrunk (35) beats the diving tackle of Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Quinton Pointer (26) on his way to a fourteen yard gain in the fourth quarter during the preseason game between the Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday, August 28, 2014. The Washington Redskins defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-10."

The Dallas Cowboys may look at adding a free agent RB in Lache Seastrunk, Chris Johnson, Ben Tate, Daniel Thomas or Felix Jones this offseason heading into camp, as the team has Darren McFadden and Ryan Williams dealing with injury issues with Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar on the roster and this comes after the team did not trade for Adrian Peterson this spring.

The Cowboys let DeMarco Murray leave in free agency this offseason and after bringing in Darren McFadden, the team has worked out some free agents in recent weeks. The Cowboys are in OTAs and heading into mandatory camp and according to ESPN Dallas, the team has McFadden dealing with a hamstring issue and he has sat out of practice. Williams reportedly has a knee injury and that has left Randle to take most of the first team reps. UPDATE: Seastrunk has signed with the team, per Pro Football Talk.

According to Pro Football Talk, the team worked out Ben Tate, Daniel Thomas and Felix Jones last month and they also have Chris Johnson as a potential target. Both Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones have said that the team is satisfied with the running backs on the roster and this comes after the team was mentioned in the rumors about Peterson getting traded. That trade never happened and if the team does add another running back, it likely will be one of the free agents on the market.

According to Eric Edholm, the Cowboys could look at bringing in Lache Seastrunk as an option on the free agent market behind McFadden and Randle, as he was waived by the Titans last month. Seastrunk has not had any carries in the NFL and he has bounced around on practice squads, but he could be a nice fit for the Cowboys offense. Seastrunk had over 1000 yards in back to back seasons at Baylor and he had 11 touchdowns as a junior along with 1177 yards. According to Mike Fisher at ESPN and Edholm, the Cowboys are likely letting go of undrafted free agent Synjyn Days and could sign Seastrunk

Seastrunk averaged over seven yards per carry in both of his seasons with the Bears and he could be an option to get in behind Randle, who averaged over six yards per carry last season. Seastrunk has some Texas connections after playing at Baylor and he put up some great numbers there and could be an option to stick around if he signs. Williams has been a nonfactor with the team since he came in and Dunbar is okay, but has done nothing special for the Cowboys.

Many felt the Cowboys would draft a running back this year, but the team passed on names like Jeremy Langford, Jay Ajayi and Tevin Coleman to stick with their current roster of players. The team could look at one of the veteran free agents, but a player like Seastrunk is a low risk, high reward option if he shows he can be a contributing player in camp workouts if he signs. The Cowboys are likely bringing in at least one free agent back for training camp and doing it ahead of minicamp could give them a leg up when other teams look at the market.
