NBA News: Kevin Durant Shut Down By OKC Thunder, Return For Playoffs Possible If Oklahoma City Makes It

The Oklahoma City Thunder have "removed" Kevin Durant from basketball activities and there is a chance he could be done for the rest of the regular season, as the team announced on Friday that Durant has been dealing with soreness in his foot after undergoing surgery back in February.

The Thunder come into the back stretch of the season looking to make the playoffs as one of the bottom seeds in the west and now Durant could be out for the rest of the regular season schedule. According to ESPN.com, Durant could be shut down for the season, as general manager Sam Presti said when asked that it's "the direction we're headed right now" and it comes after Durant previously missed time to start the season with a foot injury.

Durant has been dealing with soreness in his foot and it comes after he had surgery to help alleviate that pain back in February. Durant had surgery on the foot and had a screw inserted in October to repair a Jones Fracture and he had been working to get back on the court. Durant started practicing and working out with the team, but the soreness continued to bother him.

Durant is averaging 25 points and six rebounds with four assists this season, but he has played in just 27 games due to injuries. The Thunder are in position to make the playoffs, as they are currently the eighth seed in the West and they last won over the Hawks and are now 39-30 on the season. The team got off to a slow start without Durant and now they have a two game lead over the New Orleans Pelicans in the playoffs standings.
