Cleveland Cavaliers Rumors: Ray Allen Free Agent Option As LeBron James Recruits After Kevin Love Trade With Andrew Wiggins?

The Cleveland Cavaliers have basically pulled off the Kevin Love trade with Andrew Wiggins going to the Minnesota Timberwolves and now the team is trying to sign Ray Allen to join LeBron James and Kyrie Irving and while he has not made a decision yet, Allen reportedly will play next season and will not retire and that would be welcome news for the Cavs.

The team has already signed a number of players for James, including Mike Miller and James Jones and now Allen could also join the fold. All those players also played with James in Miami and that would give a solid veteran presence to the team and also would give James some extra support. ESPN.com reports that the team is also trying to sign Shawn Marion and he is another target for James and the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers are thrilled about the Kevin Love deal and they feel like they have a real shot to win the NBA title this season with James coming back and he will join Kyrie Irving on the team as well. Cleveland has not won a championship in many years and now James' return could be what brings a title and the move of Kevin Love should put the Cavs in position to be the favorite for the east title and the NBA championship. The trio of James, Love and Irving is as good as any other in the league and they should be in great position this season with those players and their combination of young stars and veterans, especially if they add Shawn Marion or Ray Allen.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Cavaliers are looking at signing Ray Allen, Shawn Marion as well as E'Twaun Moore as free agent targets and Moore comes in after being with the Orlando Magic. The website writes that once the deal for Kevin Love goes through, the Cavaliers will have some space to make moves on the roster and depending on if they add Allen they can also add Moore as a bench option since it's likely that John Lucas III, Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy will be moved in the Love trade.

The Love deal has had rumors and developments all summer and after the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls made strong pushes, it was the Cavaliers that got it done and it came perhaps with a bit of prodding from their returning son in LeBron James. According to ESPN.com, the Love deal has been agreed to between the two teams, but it can't happen for two more weeks after Wiggins signed his rookie deal, meaning he can't be traded for 30 days and now the clock is moving towards a deal.

Love is coming off of one of his best overall seasons and he made it clear this year that he was looking to test the free agent market. Love said that it pained him that he hadn't made the playoffs in his six year career and now he likely is going to a team that is the favorites for the eastern conference and with him in the fold, the NBA title.
