James Shields #33, Eric Hosmer #35, and Salvador Perez #13 of the Kansas City Royals celebrate as the Royals defeat the Oakland Athletics 3-2 to win the game at Kauffman Stadium on August 11, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri."

The MLB Standings for the wild card and division leaders have some news names on top, as the Kansas City Royals are now leading the AL Central, while the Detroit Tigers are now in the second wild card spot heading into August 12 and the other leaders include the Oakland A's, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers, LA Dodgers, Angels, Pirates and Cardinals all in playoff position.

The Orioles have been dominating and they are leading the Blue Jays and Yankees in the division and Baltimore is looking like they will win this unless they collapse. The Tigers looked to be in that position, but the Royals have been amazing during this stretch and they have won eight in a row and are now in first place. The Oakland Athletics are leading the Angels and they are way ahead of the Mariners in the standings.

The National League has the Washington National in first place in the NL East and they are starting to pull away in that division. The Brewers have been able to stay atop the NL Central over the Cards and Bucs, while the LA Dodgers lead the Giants now by five games in the standings after the Royals swept San Fran.

The Royals have been white hot and they are now in first place in the division and that pushes the Detroit Tigers into the wild card spot behind the Los Angeles Angels. The Mariners and the Blue Jays are battling it out in Seattle and they are tied in the standings right now, while the Yankees and Indians are hanging in as well. The Royals have now jumped ahead of the Tigers and they are behind the Angels in the standings and this could get very interesting come September 1.

The National League standings in the wild card has the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals in the lead and they are also close in the NL Central. The San Francisco Giants are a half game back and the Atlanta Braves are also in the mix with the Cincinnati Reds.
