MLB Manager Openings Rumors: Cincinnati Reds Hire Brian Price To Take Over For Dusty Baker

The Cincinnati Reds made the playoffs again this season, but after losing in the wild-card playoff game to the division rival Pittsburgh Pirates, the team parted ways with Dusty Baker and now the team appears to have hired a new manager to take over in Brian Price.

According to ESPN.com, Price was hired by the team and he will be announced officially on Tuesday to take over for Baker, who was with the team for a number of years and took them to the playoffs. The Reds were one of the worst franchises in baseball for a stretch in recent years, but after Baker took over the team had some sustained success and now Price will take over.

The team had Price has the pitching coach since 2010 and he previously also worked for the Mariners and the Diamondbacks. The team won 90 games last season and previously won a division title under Baker and now the franchise will move on with Price. The team ranked 12th in runs this season and 18th in batting average while coming in third place in the central behind the Cardinals and the Pirates.
