Barcelona Transfer News: Thiago Silva: Tito Vilanova Asked Me to Join Barcelona, But I'm Happy at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva revealed Tito Vilanova tried to convince him to join Barcelona, but insisted he is quite happy at the French club and has no plans to leave in the summer.

Silva to Barcelona has been a transfer saga which has gone on for a couple of seasons, and the Spanish giants are attempting one final move to try to persuade the 28-year-old center-back to join up at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona manager Vilanova seems to be leading the charm offensive in a bid to seal the deal for the coveted defender.

"Tito is an excellent manager, and a man that I admire," Silva said after helping Brazil to the Confederations Cup title.

"At the PSG-Barcelona Champions League game I had a brief chat with him and he invited me to play for them."

Silva only joined PSG last summer from AC Milan in a double swoop which also involved Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and the Brazilian insisted he does not envisage switching clubs yet again this summer, with the situation quite different from last year when Milan were keen to sell the player to create some funds at the club.

"There are no negotiations to be talked about," he added. "I'm quite calm about it all and just want to enjoy my holidays.

"You never know what's going to happen in football, but I'm happy at PSG, and at ease there. I talk with the president every day. I can't see myself leaving.

"It's difficult, not like last year, when Milan wanted to sell me. Now it's very different -- PSG doesn't want to sell me. I hope it all gets sorted out as soon as possible to be rid of all this uncertainty."

Silva did have some praise for Barcelona, though, terming the link-up between Lionel Messi and Neymar, who was the player of the tournament at the Confederations Cup, at the Spanish club as "a dream team, the best team in the world."
