AFC Wild Card Playoff Schedule: Bengals vs. Texans Time, Where to Watch and Date of Matchup

Dec 31, 2012 08:51 AM EST

So you're trying to schedule you're weekend around the NFL Playoff schedule? Don't worry, we understand. The Houston Texans face the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the AFC Wild Card game.

As you might remember, these two hooked up last year and featured a set of rookie quarterbacks behind center. Andy Dalton was fresh off the shelf with a A.J. Green, another rookie compadre, holding it down for the Bengals. For the Texans, at this point last year, Matt Schaub was out and T.J. Yates was behind center.

The Texans put away the Bengals 31-10 last season in the first round of the playoffs. Could we be seeing the same results this year as the Texans are a tougher and more defensive minded team?

Wait, before we get to the breakdown and team comparison, let's give you the schedule.

Date: Saturday, January 5

Time: 4:30 p.m. ET

TV Coverage: NBC

This is where both teams finished in these categories, the Texans' defense was a bit stingy allowing just 20 points good for 10th in the league and their run defense gave up less than 100 yards per game. Their offense is dynamic as they are Top 10 in scoring (26 pts), and rushing yards (132.7) per game.

Arian Foster is their main offensive weapon.

Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, Green and Dalton are looking like the quarterback/receiver duo of the future. In 2012, 11 times in the end zone as Green racked up 1,350 yards in the season. Their offense will not wow you, but their defense is pretty good ranking Top 10 in points allowed (20) and passing yards (212.5) per game.

Had the Texans held their own during the final week of the season, then they would have been off next week. However, they struggled and allowed the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos to snatch the top two seeds in the division.
