As we know, basketball and hip hop share a bond. Ballers want to be rappers and rappers want to play ball. Recently, Kim Kardashian was married to the Brooklyn Nets' Kris Humphries, but that lasted 72 days. She is currently dating one of hip hop's top artists, Kanye West. Funny thing is that Kanye is only played at the Barclays Center while Humphries is on the floor.
A little history lesson for those who don't know what we're talking about.
Kanye was with Jay-Z at Rocafella Records and Jay-Z owns a very small part of the Brooklyn Nets. Though Jay-Z only holds a small stake of the Nets, when you go into Barclays, hip hop has influenced everything from the warm-up tunes played to the halftime show to the brief announcements over the loud speakers used to energize the crowd.

At some points you might get Jay-Z telling fans, "Allow me to reintroduce myself," from his hit "Public Service Announcement" also known as "PSA" for short. Fans could be heard around the are replying "My name is HOV!" and some continue rapping for a couple of bars.cruel
Now, with that being said, Jay-Z and Kanye have been featured in a couple of tracks together, most recently "Clique" from Kanye's latest album "Cruel Summer" with his G.O.O.D. Music group. (Explicit)
On Tuesday, while present at the game against the Utah Jazz, the following occurred: Humphries was on the bench. No Kanye had played. As soon as he stepped on to the court, the beat to "Clique" blasted from the Barclay Center speakers.
Now, this could just be paranoia or my friends and I trying to find a connection where none exists, but is somebody doing this on purpose?
Kim divorced Humphries, the Nets' power forward and then began dating Kanye. They even have a moniker, Kimye, which allows people to mention the couple in a single breath.
Kanye even took it to another level in his track "Way Too Cold" formally known as "Theraflu" saying:
And I admit
I fell in love with Kim
around the same time she fell in love with him.
Well that's cool baby girl do your thing.
Lucky I ain't have Jay drop him from the team.
We all know who he was talking about when the song was dropped. That was a direct hit a Humphries.
NBA fans from all over the country knew about Humphries' relationship and breakup with Kim. Many people around the world know about this and as seen in this clip, fans are unforgiving. Whoopi Goldberg had to defend Humphries.
In conclusion, it's pretty hilarious that this goes on at Barclays. My friends at the games have noticed and it happens every single time. We've been there three times.
Maybe it's coincidence, but Kanye doesn't play while Humphries is on the bench, but as soon as he gets out there "Jesus Walks" or another Kanye track plays over the loud speakers.
Check it out next time you go to a Barclays and let me know if I'm wrong.
