Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Gunners Agree Terms with Atletico Madrid Star

Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid playmaker Arda Turan, with only a fee needing to be agreed upon between the two clubs.

Turan has been one of the standout players for Atletico this season, as the Madrid club continue to push Barcelona for the La Liga title.

According to widespread reports across Europe, the Turkish midfielder is keen on making a move to Arsenal, with the chance of playing under Arsene Wenger the key.

"Arda has played at Atletico Madrid for two seasons now," Turan's agent Ahmet Bulut told Turkish state broadcasting service TRT. "I have wanted to see him play for another team in another league and Arda wants the same.

"We are working on making this happen, Atletico know what our intention is and are working with us. If all goes well, Arda will leave the Madrid club at the end of this season.

"I can't say the league or you'll know exactly who I'm talking about but let's just put it like this, there are only 5-6 clubs which could afford Arda right now and he's going to join one of these five clubs.

"There are a few clubs interested, Liverpool are one, and Arsenal. There are no official or concrete offers at the moment but two clubs have spoken about wages.

"He is interested in working under Arsene Wenger because he is very good at working with young players, and Arda wants to work in England."

The 25-year-old has apparently given the go ahead for a move to the Emirates in the summer; but Arsenal will have to match the €24 million (£19.7 million, $31.7 million) buyout clause.

The amount will make Turan Arsenal's most expensive capture - if Wenger does not buy anyone more expensive in the January transfer window -- but with Wenger and the Arsenal board admitting the financial restrictions no longer existed within the club, that fee would not be too much of a problem.

Turan is a typical Arsenal player, capable of playing across the midfield, equally comfortable on either flanks or across the middle.

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to move into the central midfield in the future, and Arsenal a little thin in the wide positions - Wenger has used Aaron Ramsey in a right midfield position this season - Turan would be a good addition to the squad, and at 25 would not take too long to adjust to Arsenal's playing style.
