Arsenal Transfer News: Holloway Hits Out at Arsenal and Media over Zaha Speculation; Says Crystal Palace Can Cope Without Youngster

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has hit out at the media and Arsenal over continued speculation on Wilfried Zaha.

The 20-year-old forward is seen as one of Arsenal's priority targets in January leading to reports that a formal bid was on the anvil, with the Gunners confident of sealing the signing as soon as possible.

However, the continued rumors have not gone down well with Palace boss Holloway, with the manager saying he was fed up with the constant questions about his player.

"I'm going to treat that with the contempt it deserves," Holloway told reporters. "He's our player, he's got a four-and-a-half year contract, and it would take a lot more than one player to de-rail us. So don't speculate on speculation.

"We've got lots of star players, I'm sick and fed up of talking about Wilf. Just because England chose him the other week. I've got some fantastic players, Wilf's one of them.

"You could talk about (Yannick) Bolasie if you want, you could talk about (Mile) Jedinak, you could talk about KG (Kagisho Digkacoi), you could talk about (Owen) Garvan, you can talk about (Andre) Moritz.

"You can talk about anybody you like, I'm not going to answer a question ''if.' Really if is the biggest word in the dictionary, isn't it?

"Because it's got an unended meaning. What if? What if you were a lady called Jane? Would you still ask me that question? What if I was your auntie not your uncle? It's all nonsense."

After the broadside at the reporters, Holloway then went on to criticize Arsenal for making their interest in Zaha public.

"Will it derail us? It would take a lot more than one player going to derail this, but no one's going, just because Arsenal might have said a week ago they quite like him, which I felt was unprofessional at the time," Holloway added.

"It leads to all this sort of nonsense. I actually like (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain, think Oxlade-Chamberlain is really good, he might help our promotion push. I quite like Walcott, he's out of contract in the summer, why don't we get him?

"Would you start the same speculation that way around? I don't think so, so you're wasting your time talking to me about that."

Arsenal had in fact not really made their interest public. When asked about interest in Zaha, all Arsene Wenger had said Zaha was not of any more importance than anyone else in the market.

"We are looking at every player who could strengthen our squad -- but he is not more on the list than anyone else," he said.
