The Chelsea spending spree shows no signs of ending, after chief executive Ron Gourlay admitted they would buy more players.
The Blues won the Champions League and the FA Cup last season, but finished a disappointing sixth in the English Premier League. The club are determined to get back into the title picture and have gone about strengthening their side considerably in the summer.
Chelsea have already bought Eden Hazard, Thorgan Hazard, Marko Marin, Kevin De Bruyne (in January) and Oscar, as the core slowly changes from the experienced to the young brigade.
With the departure of Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres is expected to take the lead striker mantle, but that has not prevented Roberto Di Matteo and Roman Abramovich from looking at further options upfront.
Chelsea are in the market for another big-name striker, with Porto striker Hulk, Edinson Cavani of Napoli and Atletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao linked with the club. While all three will cost the club quite a sum that has never been a deterring factor for billionaire owner Abramovich in the past.
The Blues are also pursuing youngster Victor Moses from Wigan and Cesar Azpilicueta from Marseille.
Gourlay revealed there would be more signings. "It's a big squad and we are still looking to strengthen in one or two areas, and there will certainly be four or five and maybe a bit more players going out on loan," he is quoted as saying in the Telegraph.
"I think we had to strengthen the team. While we ended with a very, very strong season, it was clear that there were some areas where we did have to strengthen, so we knew we were always going to have to do that."
Gourlay said he expects Hazard and Oscar to slot into the club's first team plans immediately. "The average age of the side has come down dramatically," Gourlay said. "Hazard and Oscar are two players that will definitely feature in the first team."
Di Matteo has been given the responsibility of changing Chelsea's style of play into a more attractive one, and Gourlay admitted the new signings had been brought in keeping that in mind. "He's very much creating his own side now.
"There's some new guys there and he can craft them into the way he wants the team to play. That's a nice position to be in because we've heard it all before about inheriting someone else's team.
"This is a kind of a break and a good opportunity."
