Chelsea Transfer News: Oscar Happy To Play in Any Position

Jul 28, 2012 01:49 AM EDT

Chelsea's latest signing Oscar is happy to play wherever the manager Roberto Di Matteo wants him to.

The Brazilian signed for the Blues from Internacional in a deal reportedly worth around £25 million ($39.3 million) earlier this week, and admitted it was one of the easiest decisions he has ever made.

Oscar joins the likes of Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Juan Mata, with all of them preferring to play in similar positions. Therefore Di Matteo will have an embarrassment of riches at his disposal, and will have to decide who plays where and how.

Oscar, however, is not too concerned with the competition for places at Stamford Bridge. "The offer was very good for me and I didn't have to think twice about signing," the 20-year-old is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.

"After the Olympics I am going to talk to the manager and I am ready to do whatever the manager wants me to do."

"For Internacional I played in several different positions, so I have no problem adapting."

Brazilian players have been known to find it difficult to adapt to the English Premier League and general life in England, however, Oscar revealed he already has friends in Chelsea, with the likes of compatriots David Luiz, Ramires and Lucas Piazon.

"I am good friends with David Luiz,' he said.

'There are also Ramires and Lucas Piazon playing for Chelsea, so they will help me adapt."

After winning the ever-elusive Champions League title last year, Chelsea have begun a new era, by bringing in younger players capable of playing an attractive style. Oscar, while saying the Olympics was his priority right now, admitted he had been keeping an eye on developments at Stamford Bridge and was excited to be a part of the new setup.

"This is a dream for me," the playmaker said. "I'm joining Chelsea hopefully to win more titles.

"The project is very exciting, especially with the young players that they are signing."
