The NFL trade deadline is getting closer and there are some interesting names that could move this season, as Mike Wallace, Donald Brown, Vincent Jackson, Jared Cook and Toby Gerhart have all been named as options by Grantland.com in their annual trade deadline preview and this comes as the Jets and Seahawks made a trade for Percy Harvin.

Bill Barnwell writes about the potential trades and looks at some names that could move at the deadline this year, with Wallace, Brown and Jackson as the most notable options. Pro Football Talk reported that Lovie Smith said that the Buccaneers are not shopping any of their players, but with the way they have played this season, there is a chance the team could make a move. Jackson and Wallace are two high priced receivers that play in Florida and after Harvin was traded, there's a chance other teams could be making calls.

The article also puts Brown and Gerhart in the same category, as they both signed deals in the offseason with new teams and have not worked out all that well. The Chargers clearly like what they have in Branden Oliver and with Danny Woodhead signed (but injured) and Ryan Mathews on the roster, they could look at moving Brown and not lose out on much. Barnwell writes the article wondering who "the next Percy Harvin" will be and the Harvin trade is comparable to what happened last year with Trent Richardson. While the players obviously got moved for far different compensation (Colts gave up a first round pick) the deals were surprises with well-known players that are/were/may/might/probably considered essential on offense.

Obviously those trades may not go down at the deadline, but there are teams in need at those positions. Jackson could be an option for the Raiders or Patriots, while the Giants may look at a running back. The Seattle Seahawks tried to trade Percy Harvin for Julius Thomas and Jordan Cameron and that means the Hawks could look at Jared Cook if he ends up on the block.

Jackson is the biggest name on the list along with Wallace and the main reason Wallace could get moved is simply because he has a big contract. The Dolphins like Wallace, but they now have a young star in Jarvis Landry and could make a move. Jackson comes in with 25 catches this season for 344 yards and while Lovei Smith demied that Jackson or anyone else was on the block, it could change down the line. Wallace comes in with 30 catches for 359 yards this season and he also has five touchdowns.
