The World Series 2014 schedule picks up on Tuesday as the MLB playoffs and postseason continue and the start time is at 8 pm ET for Game 1 on the FOX channel as the Kansas City Royals host the San Francisco Giants at Kauffman Stadium for the Fall Classic as James Shields and Madison Bumgarner face off in the pitching duel.

The Giants and Royals start off the series on Tuesday night in KC and this game is huge for both sides as the World Series gets started. The goal for the Giants is to steal at least one game in Kansas City, while the Royals want to keep their winning streak going. The team has now won eight games in a row after taking the wild card and then sweeping both the Angels and Orioles in the ALDS and ALCS and now they have the chance to keep it going.

The Royals have home field advantage because of the All-Star game, but things actually worked out based on records, as KC had one more win than the Giants this season. Shields gets the chance to actually earn his big game James nickname in this matchup and he is back in the World Series after previously being there with the Tampa Bay Rays when they took on the Phillies. The first game has the prime pitching matchup and then it will be Jake Peavy against Yordano Ventura for Game 2.

Tim Hudson and Ryan Vogelsong will be next for the Giants and the Royals have not yet decided who they will throw. The Royals have been hot through the playoffs and the end of the season and the Giants come in with a ton of experience. There are still nine players left on the Giants team that won the 2010 World Series and that will be big as they take on the Royals.

Kansas City did not hit many home runs during the season, but they have been mashing in the playoffs and now they get the chance in Game 1. The Royals added Jayson Nix to the roster for the World Series and he can provide some flexibility around the Diamond and he could be valuable when the series shifts to San Francisco. The Giants know that the Royals are on a crazy streak and they will be looking to end it in one of these first two games in KC.

The first game is on at 8 pm ET on FOX and the radio coverage for all games of the World Series will be on the radio from ESPN.
