Derek Jeter #2 of the New York Yankees speaks with manager Joe Girardi #28 of the New York Yankees in the dugout before the start of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays on September 15, 2014 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida."

The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays are playing live on the MLB schedule on Tuesday night and the game starts up at 7:10 pm ET from Tropicana Field and Michael Pineda will be against Jake Odorizzi in the pitching matchup and the Yanks come in after another heartbreaking loss and now they are on the fringe of the wild card race and any chance they have of getting Derek Jeter into the postseason has to start now.

The Yankees have had a rough season with injuries and now they are a handful of games out of a wild card spot and it must hurt that Robinson Cano is the player on the team in the next spot under the Royals right now. The Mariners are not in yet either, but it is a bit ironic that it's his team right there and now the Yankees and Jeter are looking to do all they can to get back into the mix and they need some string play right now.

The Yankees have gotten some strong pitching lately from Pineda and others, but the offense has been failing. Jeter is not hitting enough for a number two hitter, while Martin Prado is now out for the season and he had been a nice surprise for the team heading out of the trading deadline. The Yankees and the Indians are six games back actually and that makes it nearly impossible for the team to get back into it, but they will not be giving up easily.

This is the last season of Derek Jeter and he has never gone two seasons without making the playoffs and now that looks like it will happen. The Yankees have the Rays and they end the season in Boston against the Red Sox. The team is behind the Blue Jays in the race and they are also behind the Mariners and they are now two games back of the Royals for the second wild card spot. The team has been hit hard with injuries and Brett Gardner has been their best player and now they are going to move into the post Jeter era with Brett and Jacoby Ellsbury as their best players left.
