Jun 21, 2014 07:46 PM EDT

The Texas Longhorns and Vanderbilt Commodores are playing in the College World Series 2014 live on Saturday for an elimination game from Omaha on ESPN2 and streaming from the WatchESPN website for the live stream at 8 pm ET from TD Ameritrade Park and this will be for the championship series and they will play either Ole Miss or Virginia for the NCAA baseball title.

Texas comes into the game with some major momentum, as they have been playing very well through the College World Series and now they have won over Vandy and this now will be an elimination game for the teams after the Commodores dropped their first matchup with the Longhorns. Nathan Thornhill got the win for the Longhorns and they ended the game with five hits and four runs with one error, with all four of those runs coming in the first two innings. The team scored two runs in each of the first two innings and Vandy actually outhit the Longhorns with six hits and still lost and now they have to find a way to bounce back.

Thornhill and John Curtiss pitched to give Texas their second shutout in a row after winning over the Cardinals and now they have the chance to get to the best of three championship and that will be against either Ole Miss or Virginia and that could be a great matchup for Texas. The Longhorns had not been successful at the CWS over the past few years despite being there over 30 times in school history and now they are on the brink of playing for a championship here in Omaha and this matchup needs to be a good one, as Vanderbilt is on the brink now and can get eliminated with a loss.

Thornhill pitched well and left after tossing over 130 pitches into the eighth inning of the game against Vandy and they are looking to continue that strong play on Saturday. Texas had gone a few years without a win in the College World Series and they snapped that this year and had a great game against the Cardinals to continue their woes. The team beat Louisville after they had a nice run into the tournament and now the Longhorns are one game away after making it into the final four of the tournament.

Vandy did not get a runner past second base in the entire game and that was the second time in two games that the Longhorns did that to their opponent. The pitching has been the biggest advantage for Texas during this run, as they have not allowed a run in nearly 20 innings and they have been averaging just a run a game, giving up four overall in the CWS and that is a recipe for success. The Longhorns have not been hitting the ball well and they have an average of under .200 overall and this gives the team a chance to snap out of that along with the pitching.

The College World Series is coming live from Omaha for the final matchups as the CWS championship series starts up on Monday.
