The Seattle Sounders and PSA Elite are playing in the U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round soccer tournament on Wednesday night and the game is live at 10 pm ET and has a live stream from SoundersFC.com as things kick off at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila in Washington for the MLS team.
The Sounders are matching up with an amateur team here, but they are not overlooking their opponent after losing last year to the Tampa Bay Rowdies and they are hoping to keep things going with a win on Wednesday night. The team has not lost at Starfire in the past and the small atmosphere of the stadium plays into the Sounders, as their and are the most passionate in the league. After playing this match the team will be back in MLS play against DC United and that game will be on the road and comes 10 days from this matchup
The MLS schedule continues through July and there are a number of games on the schedule before the World Cup ends and the Sounders will get Clint Dempsey back after Brazil 2014 finishes up. The team plays against the Vancouver Whitecaps next before coming home against the Portland Timbers and that will be in Seattle and after that the team has a friendly with Tottenham and that will be a fun matchup for both sides and for the fans. The game after that is against the Los Angeles Galaxy and then the team plays against the San Jose Earthquakes on the road.
The Sounders have been one of the best teams in Major League Soccer this season and they are tops out west as the season schedule wears on. The team has a tough stretch right now since Clint Dempsey is in the World Cup and they have to find a way to make it through without him now. During their first years of this tournament they won from 2009 to 2011 before losing last year and they see this as a great opportunity to get some momentum over the summer.
Any success for the Americans in Brazil is a good thing for the MLS and for soccer in the United States and that is why everyone in Seattle is pulling for the team and pulling for Dempsey. The standings has the Sounders on top in the west and they have 32 points and are clear of Real Salt Lake and they have 10 wins on the season and are looking to finish at the top of the table.
