The Stanley Cup finals 2014 is back live on Friday and the game between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings from Staples Center is on TV from NBC and has a live stream from the NBC Sports Live Extra website and starts up at 8 pm ET and has LA up in the series 3-1 and looking to end the run for NY and this Game 5 matchup is obviously crucial.

The Rangers come into the game with some momentum for the first time and that comes after they were able to hang on for the Game 4 win and that enabled the team to stay alive. The team is now down 3-1 in the series after being down three games and now the sweep is off and the Kings still need one more win to get the Cup and that will not be easy no matter who the team is they are playing. The Kings think they lost the game and the Rangers didn't win it and that's fine, but last time we checked a team needs to win four games to win the Cup, so either way they will have to get it done no matter what the Rangers do.

The Rangers got some amazing luck and some great play from their goalie Henrik Lundqvist and that gave the team all they needed, as he had 40 saves in the game on 41 shots. Quick was good but he missed two goals and those were impressive plays from the rangers, while the Kings added a breakaway goal and couldn't get anything else, but it wasn't for lack of trying, as they had 15 shots against the Rangers in the third period compared to just one from the team. Lundqvist made more saves in elimination game than any goalie ever has since saves were counted as a stat and he needed every one to get the Rangers through.

The Rangers literally had no luck in this series at all coming through the first three games and while it's hard to quantify puck luck, everyone will say it exists and the teams believe that and now NY has some on their side. The team got lucky first when a puck came close to the red line and Jeff Carter could not corral it, allowing Anton Stralman to take it away from the crease and that was only the precursor to what happened later in the game

The Rangers were holding on to a 2-1 lead like dear life when the Kings continued attacking and Lundquist had a goal slip past him and it slowly made its way through the crease. The puck didn't have much on it and with the ice all cut up from the skating in the Rangers zone -see it was your own fault Kings for cutting up all that ice-and it literally froze before the line and Derek Stepan made a heads up play and saved it. The King s tried to complain to the officials that it was an illegal play, but the ref was right there and made the correct call.
