Jun 12, 2014 06:28 PM EDT

The World Cup opened on Thursday and the results and standings now has Brazil in first with three points over Croatia after winning 3-1 with two goals from Neymar in Group A and that leaves Mexico and Cameroon to play on Friday and they can equal the result here to get onto the top of the group standings and after starting off slow, Brazil powered back for a win in Sao Paulo.

Brazil started off the match a bit sluggish and gave up and own goal early after a knock in by Marcelo, but the team was able to get things together and Neymar scored soon after that. Brazil has won 20 of 23 games when Neymar scores and even though Marcelo put the team behind, Neymar was able to get things back together with a goal.

Marcelo had the first score of the game, but unfortunately it was an own goal and that gave Croatia an early 1-0 lead and the Arena Corinthians sounded a bit worried. Soon after superstar Neymar stopped all of that, putting in a long shot off the right post corner and in and that got everyone going crazy and that made the score 1-1. The Marcelo goal came on a furious attack from Croatia and the team scored 11 minutes in, while Neymar added his goal soon after at the 29th minute. It was the first own goal for Brazil in World Cup history and they are one team that has a winning record despite allowing first goals and that are the only team in the tournament that can say that.
