NHL Playoffs Standings 2014: Boston Bruins Win Series For Montreal Canadiens Second Round Schedule After Red Wings Victory

The NHL playoffs standings for 2014 has the Boston Bruins into the second round and they will play against the Montreal Canadiens in the eastern conference semifinals after winning 3-1 against the Detroit Red Wings and the number one seed in the conference won four games in a row after falling in the opening matchup of the postseason.

The Bruins played very well in the series and Tuukka Rask was brilliant in the last game and in this matchup the Red Wings got scores from stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, while Jonas Gustavsson was strong in the net with 29 saves, but the Bruins won out and now they advance to the next round of the playoffs. The matchup between the Bruins and the Canadiens is an Original 6 team matchup and Montreal has been resting since sweeping the Tampa Bay Lightning and they were the first team to advance to the second round.

Boston won game 5 with goals from Loui Eriksson, Zdeno Chara as well as Milan Lucic and Jarome Iginla, who had an empty net goal at the end of the game. The Red Wings played the Bruins tough, but they were the number one team in the NHL this year and the top seed in the eastern conference and now they advance to the play the Canadiens. Montreal swept out the Lightning in the playoffs and the Bruins allowed their second power play goal of the series in the matchup and the teams finished even in shots on goal with 33. Chara had the goal that gave the Bruins the lead and he put that through with seconds left in the second period.

Tuukka Rask finished with 31 saves in the game and he has continued his strong play for the Bruins in the playoffs and they scored two in the third period to seal the game and they are looking to win their second Stanley Cup since 2011. The schedule on Saturday has three games later in the day, including Columbus and Pittsburgh playing Game 5 and they are tied 2-2, and so are the Avalanche and Wild and they play at 9:30 pm ET, while the LA Kings and San Jose Sharks are playing in Game 5 with SJ up 3-1.

Sunday has some very big games, including the Philadelphia Flyers playing against the NY Rangers and that will be Game 5 with the series tied 2-2 and comes from MSG. The Rangers lost the last game in Philly and they have been going back and forth and that comes before the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues. The Hawks have won three games in a row and the matchup from the United Center could be the series ender for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
