The NBA trade deadline is just a week away and Pierre Jackson has become a top target for some teams, as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls coulds be options for the Pelicans point guard and a deal could go down as the All-Star game is going down in New Orleans.

Jackson has been lighting things up in the D-League for the Pelicans and he has been stashed there because New Orleans has Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans and Austin Rivers and now he could be on his way out of town. According to Yahoo Sports, Jackson has been frustrated this season that he has not been able to make it up to the NBA and he has said that he wouldn't mind a trade and that he could end up going to Europe if things aren't working out. Jackson has been one of the best players in the D-League this season and he even had a record with 58 points in a game and he is averaging nearly 30 points per game in 30 games this season and he has been averaging 6.2 assists per game as well.

The Pelicans drafted Jackson with their second round pick last season out of Baylor and he is playing too well to remain in the D-League and that could lead to a trade. Andre Miller has been stuck in the dog house in Denver and they have emerged as a contender to trade for Jackson according to CSNNW.com and that comes after Miller had a public spat with head coach Brian Shaw. New Orleans hasn't brought up Jackson because they have the max amount of players on their active roster and now the February 20 deadline could heat up in regards to Jackson.

The team has been approached with some deals, according to CSN, but so far none have been worth it enough to pull the trigger and the Nuggets could be an option with Miller out of the lineup. The team needs a legitimate backup for Ty Lawson and this could also be a way to ship out Miller. While the D-League is not the NBA by any stretch of the imagination, he has been playing very well and will be targeted at the deadline.

The Cavaliers were expected to be sellers at the deadline with the way they have performed this season and another reason is due to the fact that they just fired their GM. The team now could end up being active at the deadline, as Pro Basketball Talk reports that the front office and ownership have not given up on the season and they could use Dion Waiters as a way to kick start deals. The team has been shopping Waiters all season and he could be an option in a deal for Jackson. The Miami Heat likely will not get involved in a deal because they don't have much to offer, but having a solid point guard and possible insurance policy for Dwyane Wade could factor into things.
