Super Bowl Date Change Schedule Options: NFL SB XLVIII Has Saturday or Monday If Weather Forecast Has Blizzard

The Super Bowl date can be changed if the NFL feels that SB XLVIII will be compromised by the weather, as Saturday or Monday could accommodate the game at MetLife Stadium if needed, but the league said that it would be a last resort to move the game and only if a significant weather event occurred.

According to ESPN.com, the league has looked into a number of contingency plans in case the weather is out of control for Super Bowl XLVIII and that includes possibly moving the game up to Saturday it back to Monday. The league said that they would need at least 48 hours to move the game for one of the days and that they would do it well in advance to help the players and the logistics, but the NFL is prepared to play the game on February 2 as scheduled. The weather is expected to be cold and the chance of precipitation right now is under 50 percent, but that could change as it gets closer to the actual game date.

The MetLife Stadium crew is well experienced when it comes to snow and they have a bevy of snow removal equipment and now they are coming up to the big game, as it is just a little under two weeks away. The Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos both have dealt with the elements this season and the two teams have already played in MetLife Stadium, both winning against the Giants on the schedule this year.

According to ESPN.com, the local authorities have over 800 snow trucks and plows to deal with the snow and the league is hoping for a chilly game, but not a mess with a snowstorm. The Seahawks and the Broncos both have to deal with weather issues at their home stadium, but the Broncos are more of a passing team and that could be an issue if there is a ton of wind or snow. The Seahawks are more of a rushing team and the NFL is hoping that the game goes off without snow. Roger Goodell also plans to stay outside for the game.
