The Rose Bowl is the most prestigious of the BCS Bowl games and this season the Stanford Cardinals are taking on the Michigan State Spartans in a classic Pac-12 and Big Ten matchup from Pasadena for the Grandaddy of Them All and the game will be presented by Vizio and is being played on January 1 at 5:00 pm and on TV from ESPN and streaming online from the WatchESPN website.

The Spartans come into the game after ending the Ohio State Buckeyes undefeated season and winning the Big Ten championship game and now Michigan State will be playing against Stanford, the champions of the Pac-12 conference. Michigan State hasn't been to the Rose Bowl in many years and Stanford is making it a second home and now the two teams face off for the title and it comes after the Cardinal won the north division in their conference and defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils on the road for the Pac-12 title and now they will play in another BCS game.

Michigan State comes into the game playing very well and they are on a hot streak, having won nine games in a row and that includes the Big Ten championship game against the undefeated Buckeyes, who were ranked number two in the nation. The Spartans defeated Michigan when they were ranked and the team last lost back in September and that was to a ranked Notre Dame team and Michigan State has the fourth ranked defense in the nation in scoring with just 12 points allowed per game and that should make for an interesting day for Kevin Hogan, Ty Montgomery and Tyler Gaffney for the Cardinal.

The Spartans offense had its moments this season but they are not a high scoring team like Auburn or Florida State and they will be relying on quarterback Connor Cook having another big game after what he did in the conference title game, as he won MVP and passed for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in the victory over Ohio State. The team averages under 400 yards per game and that is in the lower part of the conference, but running back Jeremy Langford has been very solid, rushing for over 1,300 yards this season and over the past eight games he has been averaging just under 130 yards and he has 17 touchdowns this season.
