The college football season is coming to a fast close and the means it's time to go bowling and after Auburn beat Alabama in the Iron Bowl and sent everything flying, teams are positioning themselves to make bowl runs and BCS game appearances and with Florida State and Ohio State looking like locks, spots in the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl are up for grabs and here are some projections and predictions for the games and Auburn.
The national championship game should be matched up with Florida State and Ohio State in the Rose Bowl for the final matchup and that will leave open a BCS spot for a team for the ACC tie in and the Big Ten tie in games. The SEC championship game should be an exciting game and if Auburn wins the SEC championship game over Missouri, there is a chance they could sneak into the national championship if either Florida State or Ohio State falls in the ACC and Big 12 championship games. Those games are on Saturday night and the Seminoles are the heavy favorites over Duke, while Ohio State has a tough matchup with Michigan State.
The Orange Bowl could snag one of those teams and it is likely that UCF could get into that game and the matchup could also have teams like Alabama or Clemson depending on how the games shakeout. The Sugar Bowl could get Bama as well and the Rose Bowl game will get either Arizona State or Stanford from the Pac-12 and that matchup will be a tough one and Michigan State could get into that game if OSU gets into the national championship. The Fiesta Bowl now has an opening with Northern Illinois losing and someone like Oklahoma State should be able to get into that game. The college football season has been very exciting and one of the best games should be Ohio State and Michigan State and that game is on Saturday night and will be on FOX and could shake things.
The Sugar Bowl will get Alabama and someone like UCF or the other team of Baylor and Oklahoma State and that matchup also has the potential to be very good. UCF will get in from the former Big East somewhere and they will be underdogs no matter who they play, especially if it's Alabama or Baylor. Auburn still has the chance to get into the national title game if either Florida State or Ohio State loses in their conference championship games and stranger things have happened this season -- just ask Auburn. All the BCS games have potential to be very good matchups this season and while the Iron Bowl was amazing, I really was hoping to see Alabama go for their third championship in a row, it's always better when champs get to defend their championship.
