Aaron Rodgers Injury: Green Bay Packers QB Practices For Steelers Week 16 As Matt Flynn Start Not Certain In Playoffs Race

Dec 19, 2013 10:30 AM EST

The Green Bay Packers have been without Aaron Rodgers for weeks and despite not getting a victory over a stretch of five games, the team finds itself right in the middle of the playoff race and if Rodgers is medically cleared after practicing with the team, he could start over Matt Flynn for the Pack on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16.

According to ESPN.com, Rodgers has still not been cleared by the medical staff to start this weekend and that could come on Friday. Matt Flynn was solid on Sunday in the comeback against the Dallas Cowboys and if Rodgers doesn't start in Week 16, he could be in line for the final game of the season on the road against the Chicago Bears, which could end up deciding the NFC North this season. This season Rodgers had 15 touchdowns and 2,218 yards and he comes in after last playing against the Bears on Monday night football.

Rodgers led the team to four straight wins before that loss and despite the fact that the team did not win for five weeks, getting just a tie against the Vikings, it's amazing they are still in the playoff hunt. The team has won two straight without Rodgers, including the historic comeback against the Cowboys and after many thought that the quarterback would be shut down for the season, he looks ready to return once he is cleared by the staff.

The Packers got off to a slow start this season at 1-2 and then played very well with four straight wins, but then Rodgers got hurt and the team lost four of five, with the tie coming in that stretch as well. The team played the Lions and Vikings before winning over the Falcons and the Cowboys on the road and now they will face off against the Steelers and Chicago Bears in the final two weeks of the season.
