Dec 08, 2013 12:38 PM EST

The Detroit Lions are leading the NFC North division and they have the clear advantage to the playoffs and they will need to keep pace in the conference with a big game on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field and the matchup could have a big effect on the playoffs, as both teams are looking to get in and the matchup will start up at 1:00 pm on FOX and will be streaming online from the NFL.com league website.

The Lions have a tough schedule to finish the season with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants coming, but they have an advantage over the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers, as both teams have been dealing with injuries at the quarterback position and having Matthew Stafford remain healthy will be key for the team heading down the stretch. The Lions have one of the best offensive units in the league with Stafford, Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson and the team is matchup up against an Eagles defense that gives up yards, but they too have some great offensive talent in Nick Foles, who has no interceptions this season with 10 touchdowns and they are also one of the best rushing teams in the league. The Lions defense is ranked third in rushing yards per game and they are coming off another great performance, holding the Packers to just 10 points on Thanksgiving and they put up 40 points in the game.

Stafford had over 300 yards per game while Reggie Bush rushed for 117 and on top of that Calvin Johnson went for over 100 receiving and that is the type of performance that the Lions are hoping for on Sunday. The team plays against the Baltimore Ravens next Monday night at home and they will also host the Giants and the team comes in with over 300 passing yards per game this season and they are also ranked 15th in the league in rushing yards per game behind Bush and Joique Bell. The team has two home games against the Ravens and the Giants before finishing the year against the Minnesota Vikings and based on that schedule they will likely win out as the NFC North division champs.

The Eagles offense has been rolling this season with Chip Kelly and they are ranked in the top 10 in passing and rushing yards per game with Nick Foles and LeSean McCoy and while the defense has been giving up a ton of yards, the team can score with anyone. Foles and the Eagles will try and air it out against the Lions and Stafford will likely do the same, as the Eagles rank last in the league in passing yards per game with nearly 300 allowed per contest and the rushing game hasn't been too stout either. The Eagles play against the Vikings next and they have rebounded nicely from a 1-3 start and now have a chance to try and catch the Cowboys as they play against Dallas to finish the season in Week 17 and that game could decide the NFC East division.
