Brooklyn Nets Rumors: Jason Kidd On Hot Seat As Lawrence Frank Hires Lawyer After Reassignment

Dec 05, 2013 10:08 AM EST

The Brooklyn Nets are going through a tough time as they struggle in the early part of the season and Jason Kidd hasn't made it any easier and after re-assigning high priced and veteran assistant coach Lawrence Frank, the former head coach has hired a lawyer to help him figure out his contract situation with the team.

Heading into the season, Frank was looked at as a valued part of Kidd's staff as a former head coach to help the brand new head coach with no experience and he was paid more than any assistant in the league. Now, Kidd reassigned Frank suddenly after a difference in "philosophy" that sounds very much like a euphemism for something else and now Frank has hired a lawyer, according to CBS Sports. The report says that Frank, who signed a $6 million deal over six years that included four years of coaching duties, has brought in a lawyer to help with a buyout to allow him to either get another job or leave the organization.

Brining in Frank appeared to be a great move for Kidd, but with the team at 5-12 and looking terrible, someone needed to be made the scapegoat and clearly Kidd is making that Frank. Reports from Yahoo Sports and other outsets have said that Kidd and Frank had issues at a meeting in November, with Kidd ripping Frank over defensive calls and philosophy and now he is assigned to writing up daily reports.

The NY Post is reporting that he likely will look for a buyout, as he wants to be a contributor to the team, but not like this. Having a number of players injured hasn't helped things and neither has the issues with Kidd, including him spilling a drink the other night to get an extra time out that he was fined for.
